Introduction to Linocut

Introduction to linocut is a day course for anyone interested in learning the basics of linocut printmaking. It is ideal for artists with any level of ability who wish to explore Linocut.

You will be introduced to the principles of simple multi block and reduction linocut through examples. Then you will work towards creating a 2 block lino, alongside registration of your block and layered colour.

It is a full but very accessible day and you will come away with a unique edition of related images.

Morning

• Transfer your design to lino
• Cutting out the design
• Basic registration
• Ink the block
• Print work

Afternoon

• Cutting the design – 2nd block
• Ink and print
• Sharing the work with the group
• Tidy up and evaluation
