NEW COURSE

Lucy May Schofield invites those who have some experience of Mokuhanga to return to LPW to teach this follow-up course on Japanese water-based woodblock printing 'Next Steps’. This course is intended for those who want to develop their skills in woodblock printing, and will focus on printing techniques using your existing carved blocks. Learners are encouraged to bring their own carved blocks with them to work with, and will be guided and refreshed on various techniques including paper damping, inking and printing, including gradation, flat colour, sesame printing and wood grain techniques, with the aim of getting better quality and more consistent prints from your blocks.
There will be lots of opportunity to take advantage of Lucy’s wealth of knowledge of this process, and iron out any issues you may have been while practicing at home.
Some previous experience of water-based woodblock printing is necessary for this course.
