NEW TUTOR TO LPW + NEW COURSE

Leicester Print Workshop is delighted to present our three day Winter Printmaking Schools in early 2025. These small group three day immersions will give participants a chance to dedicate time to their printmaking practice. Participants will enjoy the opportunity to experiment, play, explore and focus on their chosen technique and present a new opportunity for artistic development, inspiration and growth over Winter.

This three day course introduces you to a variety of monoprinting techniques and possibilities, also combining it with drypoint and chine colle. This particular process is favourable to those who prefer a more painterly effect to their prints, as gestural and textural marks can be achieved through the use of a wide variety of tools which can either remove or apply the ink to your plate.

Through these tools, you will explore the boundaries of mark-making with monotypes. Suitable for both beginners and experienced printmakers and taught in a small group of six, this course is a wonderful way to experience the full range of possibilities in this fascinating Printmaking technique.

Course Structure

About the Tutor

Fiona Fouhy’s practice covers broad themes of place, geology and history, celebrating the resilience of nature over millennia. She predominantly uses monotype techniques in her work using etching inks, rags and large rollers to create fast, expressive images; processes, materials and chance inform and evolve her practice. She has developed a technique of layering ink, pushing the early ‘ghost’ layers into the background, creating a strong depth of field. Fouhy studied at Central Saint Martins, London.

She has won multiple awards and was elected to associate membership by the Royal Society of Printers and Painters in 2023.Her work is held in public collections including the Ashmolean Museum, V&A Museum and the Central St Martins College Contemporary Collection. It is held in private collections throughout the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA. She is represented by Eames Fine Art, The Glasshouse Gallery and Rachel Bebb Contemporary.
