NEW TUTOR TO LPW + NEW COURSE

Leicester Print Workshop is delighted to present our three day Winter Printmaking Schools in early 2025. These small group three day immersions will give participants a chance to dedicate time to their printmaking practice. Participants will enjoy the opportunity to experiment, play, explore and focus on their chosen technique and present a new opportunity for artistic development, inspiration and growth over Winter.

Led by book maker Sumiko Eadon, you have three days working cosily, sitting, focussing, and making something you will cherish that is also useful. In a small group of six, you will explore various concertina and fold formats, hardcover, and make your own hand-bound, hardcover sketchbooks. Working with crisp, tactile paper, colourful book cloths and specialist tools, you will be engaged in an attentive way of making; measuring, cutting, folding, piercing, sewing, gluing and you will leave the studio with something special to take home with you.
This is a real treat - three days of mindful activity and a chance to engage with beautiful materials that will begin a love of the book form if you are a beginner or reinvigorate previous skills, this is a course not to be missed.

Course Structure

Day One

Exploration of concertina book, various folds, and pamphlet book

Make concertina book with hardcover

Day Two

Make hand-bound sketchbook, starting with cutting paper, sewing signatures together, and binding

Day Three

Continue making your own hardcover sketchbook - finishing off

* If we have enough time… optional activities: make hardcover for the folds and concertina you made on Day1, or make a slip case
